University Of Cape Coast 2020/2021 Admission Forms And Requirements,  Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified for admission into full-time Undergraduate programmes in various Faculties at the University of Cape Coast, UCC for the 2020/2021 academic year.

UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST ADMISSION GUIDELINES AND FORMS

Application to UCC is basically online OR offline depending on your preference by following the following steps stated below. To become a student at the University of Cape Coast, UCC, you have to note the following:

Applicants should visit www.ucc.edu.gh then go to Admissions and click on Apply Now for further instructions. Alternatively, applicants should visit https://apply.ucc.edu.gh and proceed with the application.

All applicants are required to provide the following information at the back of the large EMS envelope:

  • application reference number  
  • full name 
  • postal address 
  • first choice programme and 
  • application category which should be one of the following: SSSCE/WASSCE or Post-Diploma or Post First Degree or OTHER (to be specified by applicant).

Applicants are advised to read application instructions as well as the contents of the admissions brochure very carefully before completing the online application form.  Applications on which APPLICATION REFERENCE NUMBERS are not indicated will not be processed.

Applicants are to buy scratch cards which will enable them to apply online.  The scratch cards are up for sale at the Centres listed below:

  2. Ghana Post Offices at the Regional Capitals – (Mode of payment – POSTAL ORDER)

  5. I-J Consult, Apostle Dr. Baidoo Avenue (Off Pentecost Convention Centre Road), Millennium City, Kasoa (Mode of payment – CASH)
  6. All UCC College of Distance Education (CoDE) Study Centres (Mode of payment: GCB Bankers Draft in the name of The Registrar, University of Cape Coast)

Note that no application will be processed without proof of payment of the fee.

UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST APPLICATION FEE

COST OF SCRATCH CARDS:
  • Post-SSSCE/WASSCE        –    GH¢220.00
  • Post-Diploma                      –    GH¢230.00
  • International Applicants     –    USD$120.00

International applicants and Ghanaian applicants abroad can make payment by VISA Card and have their Scratch Card PIN sent to their e-mail addresses to enable them to complete their applications online.

FEE-PAYING APPLICANTS

Fee-paying facilities are available for candidates/applicants who are unable to meet the competitive cut-off points determined by the Joint Admissions Committee.

Applicants who wish to be considered may complete and attach the fee-paying forms (available at the sales centres or downloaded from the university’s admissions portal) to their printed online application forms.  Such candidates shall be required to meet the minimum admission requirements.  Copies of last year’s cut-off points for the various programmes are available at the sales centres and the University’s website for applicants’ guidance.

SCHOOL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES

Applicants who are applying into School of Medical Sciences should note that the programme is strictly fee-paying. Applicants are also to note that the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) programme for First Degree holders will be advertised July, 2020.

SUBMISSION OF COPIES OF COMPLETED APPLICATION FORMS

(a) Two copies of completed online application forms accompanied by two copies of results slips should be sent by POST and NOT delivered by hand.

Copies of the completed online application forms should reach the Director, Directorate of Academic Affairs (DAA), University of Cape Coast not later than  May, 2020.

Applicants are to ensure that application forms are posted early enough to be received before the deadline for submission as forms received after the deadline will not be processed.

(b) No additional documents will be accepted after submission of completed application forms.  Applicants are to note that only photocopies of certificates or result slips should accompany completed application forms.  Original certificates/result slips of applicants offered admission will be inspected before registration.  The documents accompanying the application forms are not returnable.

(c) Persons awaiting 2020 WASSCE results MUST select the “Awaiting Results” option before providing their examination details. Those who already have results SHOULD NOT select the “Awaiting Results” option but rather go ahead to verify their results

(d) Application forms received without Application Reference Numbers, two (2) copies each of WASSCE/SSSCE results slips or transcripts, in the case of Post-Diploma and other applicants, will not be processed (this does not apply to persons awaiting results).

A change of programme after the submission of application forms will NOT be allowed.

Entry requirements for a Undergraduate degree Programme

These requirements are to be met in addition to the other programme-specific requirements

WASSCE/SSSCE: 

Applicants should have credit passes in six (6) subjects with an overall aggregate of 36/24 at the WASSCE/SSSCErespectively.

Three of the six subjects should be core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies and three must be in relevant electives.

For purposes of admission, a credit pass in:

  1. WASSCE means A1 – C6 
  2. SSSCE means A – D
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level:

Applicants should, in addition to credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects (including English and Mathematics), have three (3) passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.

General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE):

Applicants should have credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE):

Applicants should have credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects (including English and Mathematics) and three (3) passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.

International Baccalaureate (IB):

Applicants should have a minimum of grade 4 at the Higher Level in three (3) subjects relevant to the programme of choice (minimum of grade 5 for Health and Allied Sciences). Applicants should, in addition, have a minimum of grade 4 in English/Literature and Mathematics (SL).

American High School Grade 12 Examinations.

Applicants should have a Final Grade point of 3.0.

Applicants are required to read specific Departmental/Programme requirements contained in the Admissions Brochure before completing the online application.

UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Candidates seeking admission to PhD programmes must:

  • Have an MPhil or research MA/MEd/MSc/MBA degree in an appropriate field of study from a recognised university.
  • Have MA/Med/MSc/MBA degree in an appropriate field, with CGPA of 3.5 or better with not more than grade C+. Also, have scored B+ or better in Research Methods course.
  • Submit an official transcript of academic record.
  • Submit at least three referee reports, one of whom must be from a former Lecturer.
  • Submit a 3-5 page proposal on intended area of study including a working bibliography
  • Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department (e.g. selection interview)
Master of Philosophy/Commerce/Nursing (MPhil/MCom/MN) Programmes

Candidates seeking admission to MPhil/MCom/MN degree programmes must:

  • Have obtained a good first degree (at least a second class division) in an appropriate field of study from a recogniseduniversity/analogous institution.
  • Submit an official transcript of academic record.
  • Submit at least two referee reports, one of whom must be from a former Lecturer.
  • Submit a 2-3 page proposal on intended area of study including references.
  • Pass a selection interview.
  • Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department (e.g. selection interview)
Master of Arts/Science/Education/Business Administration (MA/MSc/MEd/MBA) Programmes

Candidates seeking admission to MA/MSc/MEd/MBA degree programmes must:

  • Have obtained a good first degree (at least a second class division) in an appropriate field of study from a recogniseduniversity/analogous institution.
  • Submit an official transcript of academic record.
  • Submit names of two referees, one of whom must be a former Lecturer.
  • Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department.
