LEGON – Two months after mounting a surprisingly competitive campaign which almost made him the President of the Business House Junior Common Room (BHJCR), Nicholas Nii Teiko Armah, popularly known as Banana, is making a run for the Treasurer portfolio of the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council.

The former aspirant for BHJCR President, who lost the election to Emmanuel C.Y. Obi,  popularly known as Zlatan, by less than twenty votes is reportedly planning to officially announce his intention to become the next Treasurer of the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council early next year.

Should he join the race as planned, Nicholas Armah (Banana) will be a strong frontrunner for the Treasurer position, given his strong support from key constituencies like the Business School, Hilla Limann Hall and the University of Ghana chapter of the Accra Academy Old Boys’ Association.

His formidable position as a frontrunner will also be boosted by the already existing network of supporters and volunteers he employed to mount a strong race for the BHJCR Presidency.

According to a source close to the team, the campaign will seek to draw upon most of its volunteers and supporters from his campaign for the BHJCR Presidency. The campaign will also rely on his humility and likeability to market him to students, the source told Legon Connect.

Should everything go as planned, Banana will be facing one Emmanuel Achio in next year’s UGSRC Treasurer race. The election for the next batch of UGSRC executives will be held sometime in April next semester.
