Alfred Ababio Kumi, one of the front-runners in this year’s University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) presidential race with Emmanuel Boadi as his running mate has been disqualified.
This was contained In a release from the Electoral Commission detailing candidates who had qualified after they were subjected to the eligibility criteria as contained in Chapter 6, Article 30 Clause 1 and 2 of the SRC constitution.
It is unclear what led to his disqualification as the release fell short of detailing that. However, campus based Radio Univers reports that he has been disqualified because he was unable to meet the 3.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) that is required of SRC executive portfolio aspirants.
This leaves only 6 Presidential candidates in the race to the Union Building as well as 2 candidates each for the Office of Secretary and Treasurer.
Meanwhile Vetting of Aspirants is scheduled for this Friday, 24th March at the SRC Union Building Conference Room.
