Halls In The Diaspora Got Delivery Of Their Share Of The Power Plants
The halls in the diaspora got delivery of the power plants which are to be installed in the coming days. About five different set of power plants were delivered this afternoon by an orange KIA truck which went round the various halls to drop the power plants on the platform prepared for them.
A source from the projects and programs committee of the SRC said the plants arrived long ago and the SRC was just awaiting the clearing of the power plants from the harbour for the installation to be done. According to him, all is set and the installation process will start immediately now that they are in.
The power plant installation project was initiated by the current SRC administration led by Joshua Dogbey as a result of the gigantic effect of the load shedding exercise currently on going in the country. The project is to help ease the effect of the load shedding exercise on the student’s body.
Students were made to pay an amount of Gh 100 spread between two semesters for the power plants. Even though most halls especially the ones in the diaspora made the payment a requisite for hall registration at the beginning of the semester, over three power plants were installed across campus so far. One at the graduate hostel and the other two at Jubilee and Volta hall.
Majority of the student’s body have been complaining bitterly about the inability of the SRC to comply with the promise to install the power plants somewhere in March. But the SRC president in a statement released on Friday 1st of May 2015 assured the students that they are doing everything within their powers to see to it that the power plants are installed before they hand over the baton to the current elected crop of leaders.
