The French Club of the University of Ghana last week took its branding strategy to the ceiling when it launched it’s new logo and redirected its strategic plans to fit the new face of the club.
The Club which is officially made up of students offering French in the University of Ghana converged at the Maison Francaise on University of Ghana Legon (Main) campus on the 20th October 2017 to officially outdoor its new emblem and its constitution.
The new logo which is praised by many to be simple but beautiful was designed by Mr. Kwame Arthur, CEO of Strafox Limited and the new constitution was drafted by a legal team made up of French students and volunteers from the University of Ghana School of Law led by the Law Students’ Union General Secretary, Mr. Alfred Boadu.

The event was honored by Ambassador Aggrey Orleans, a former Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK and Ireland who was the guest speaker, representatives from the Embassy of France, the Consulate of Gabon, Société Générale Ghana, Mr. Ernest Burke Jnr, the GIMPA SRC President, and lecturers from Department of French of the University of Ghana and a teaming number of French students together with students who were pleased with the exploits of the club.

Ambassador Orleans Delivering His Address

Welcoming the guests to the event, the UG French President Mr. Gilles Ametepe who led this restructuring and rebranding effort stated that ”we are on a new course, and we are giving ourselves the right structures to achieve the new vision of the Club, which is to become the most influential language students’ association and the leading advocating body for the learning of French in Ghana…”

He added that “French is for us an everyday affair because we believe French is the Future..” and concluded by positing that “we are on a mission to take UG French out of Maison Française and paint Legon in French”.
He also used the opportunity to thank members of the Club’s executive committee of the Club led by the Vice-president, Ms Nana Afia Ofori-Yentumi for their hardwork and commitment to the new vision of the Club.
The Club also unveiled some of its projects with the Ghana French SHS Tour as the headline project for the academic year.
Hardly do departmental clubs and associations invest such huge amounts of energy, time and resources into building such enticing and formidable brand like what the UG French Club has undertaken since Mr. Gilles Ametepe took over.

Participants At The Event

Many are amazed at how much they have been able to do with their meager resources in such a short span of time even when the larger associations have not been able to achieve such feats.
The entire university community is looking forward to what next for the UG French Club, obviously, everyone is ready to see them paint Legon in French.
