10 New Things On Legon Campus

We are back to school and classes is in full session.Everything seems normal but there were some development during the vacation that has or could changed university totally.Below is the list of some development that took place during the vacation that we should be abreast with
1.A NEW VICE CHANCELLOR
The popular Prof Ernest Aryeetey handed over his position as Vice Chancellor to Prof Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.
The Association of Lazy Students are still deliberating whether to name the examination week ODURO HALL WEEK or OWUSU HALL WEEK.
2.A NEW DEAN OF STUDENTS
Prof James K. Adomako also handed over as Dean of Students Affairs to Prof Francis Nunoo.The Dean of Students Affairs in the university is equivalent to a Senior House Master in a high school.
3.A FEMALE SRC PRESIDENT
For the first time in about a decade,the University of Ghana Students Representative Council seat is occupied by a female student.Ms Esinam Seade won the seat after beating Mr Adu Amofa in a run-off.
4.GANDHI’S STATUE
India’s famous leader,Mahatma Gandhi’s statue has been erected on Legon Campus.The statue situated at the university quadrangle was commissioned by the President of India during his recent visit to Ghana.
The location of the statue is a perfect spot selfie lovers and picture addicts.
5.THE BANKING SQUARE
The University of Ghana Banking Square,a Prof Aryeetey initiative has been completed.The square,which is around the night market,presently houses six banks.
6.RE-SIT EXAMINATION
It is announced for the information of students that with effect from the 2016/2017 Academic Year, students have the option to re-sit failed courses during the main examination or one week before re-opening of each semester
7.CAREER AND COUNSELING CENTER
The University of Ghana Counseling and Placement Center has changed its name to the Career and Counseling Center.
8.KNOWLEDGE COMMONS
The Knowledge Commons of the Balme Library has been renovated.The renovation works has given the place a new edifice and very comfortable for use by students.
9.THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
Members of the University of Ghana Governing Council were sworn in by the Minister of Education during the vacation.The new council is chaired by Prof. Kwamina Ahwoi.
