In the wake of the barrage of mixed feelings that has greeted the announcement by the university management on what students will pay as fees for the 2017/2018 academic year, LegonConnect can authoritatively confirm that the Students Representative Council is pursing the issue to its logical conclusion.
Checks by LegonConnect indicates that several consultations and stakeholder engagements have been held religiously ever since the fees were announced and following the displeasure that greeted it.
Further checks indicate that the Graduate Students Association (GRASAG) Legon branch is fully in support of the SRC in pursuit of the issue. Today, a meeting was held between the SRC executive council made up of the four elected officers and the SRC executive committee made up of Junior Common Room (JCR) executives to deliberate on the way forward towards finding a solution to the perennial issue of skyrocketing fees.
LegonConnect understands that the SRC executives are jostling between meetings after meetings to meet relevant stakeholder.
The SRC President further calls on all agitated persons and all anomic groups that have been formed in the wake of the student in order to give the students body a strong and single to avoid any uncoordinated and duplicity of efforts.
On Wednesday [July 20th], the SRC published a petition it had sent to management and urged calm reiterating their stand that they are in solidarity with students and will keep up in the best interests of Students.
