Following a directive from the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) to Public Tertiary institutions to halt the implementation of fees for this academic year and charge that of last academic year, the Students’ Representative Council of the University of Ghana has directed all its students to follow same.

The Council in a public statement released by the Office of Publication and Information Committee and signed by the president Daniel Otting Awuah and treasurer Ethel Nyarkoa Donkoh stated that it had “successfully discussed plans with management concerning the implementation of the directive from the National Council for Tertiary Education.”
The statement added that “there are plans in place to ensure students who have paid more than they are supposed to are credited back in their accounts for onward withdrawal at the Students’ Accounts Office.”
Students from across public universities have been agitating over what they described as”high fees” and called on authorities to reduce it with some petitioning Parliament to invoke its supervisory role to vet and approve the fees schedules as stipulated by the Fees And Charges Act.
