About 133 BECE Candidates in the Binduri District in the Upper East Region couldn’t write the ICT paper today in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination.

This was due to the fact that they were not registered to take part in the ICT exam.

Meanwhile they wrote both Monday and Tuesday’s papers, only to get to the exams center this morning to be told they cannot take part in the exam for today because they were not registered to participate in the exam.

Bansi JHS had 62 registered students for the BECE but today only 3 students wrote the ICT paper. One (1) student died before the start of the BECE so it’s left with 61 students taking part in the ongoing BECE.

Zawse JHS also had 61 registered students for the BECE but today only 20 students wrote the ICT paper.

KuKparigu JHS on the other hand had 25 registered students but only one (1) student wrote the ICT paper today. The one (1) who even wrote the paper didn’t get section B part of the paper to write.

The headmasters of the various schools refused to talk to the media as to why their students were not registered but one who spoke to me on anonymity confirmed the story, explaining that the students went to the exam center only to be told they cannot write because they were not registered for the paper.

He added that the fault or problem is from the Binduri district exams office Mr. Amadu Iddrisu who didn’t do his work well.

Upon questioning the exam officer, he also disclosed that the fault or the problem is not coming from his office but rather the head teachers refused to register their students, reasons best known to them (head teachers)
As at now, these candidates are worried and wondering if there will be a second chance for them to write the paper.
