According to the electoral calendar of the Electoral Commission for the 2016 SRC elections, last night the 30th of March was to be the vetting of the various aspirants for the SRC’s portfolios.
The process seemed pretty well ongoing amidst speculations of possible injunction on the whole process from some aggrieved aspirants.
Amidst those speculations, all the aspirants most likely, were present at the Union Building Conference Room for the whole exercise to commence. However, the seemingly unexpected surfaced!
Two aspirants in the persons of Joseph Agyekum and Eugene Adjei were initially dis qualified for not making up to the Grade Point Aggregate of 3.0, the minimum requirement to contest for positions on the university campus.
Joseph Agyekum, an affected aspirant has therefore gone ahead to seek and place injunction on the whole process. His claim; He stated that his GPA has been tampered with, and he believes it is a deliberate and a mischievous attempt to disqualify him looking at the popularity and fame that he carries.
The injunction is served on the notice of the Electoral Commissioner and all the aspirants present.
Consequently, the process has stalled, however, the Electoral Commissioner indicated that they are assiduously going to look at the merit of his case, and the whole election process would be continued with.
